EchoSign totally automates getting documents signed, tracked, and filed.

You get send through EchoSign's webmail, and EchoSign does all the rest. Track down the signatures. Remind them until they sign. Route signed copies to everyone that needs one as a PDF. And automatically archive a copy in everyone's EchoSign account.

IT|Redux on EchoSign: "In a nutshell, what the folks at EchoSign built is a very generic document management system, extended with a collection of simple workflow processes. But instead of marketing it as such, and fighting with established players such as Documentum (now part of EMC) or FileNet, they dumbed it down, and presented it as the easiest tool you could possibly find to get a document signed. I think it’s a really smart move."

TechCrunch on EchoSign: "EchoSign helps you keep executed documents organized. Document writing and negotiation has been largely handled online, via emails, for the last ten years (before that, fedex and faxing of versions back and forth was the way to go). However, when it comes time to execute a final agreement, both sides generally print the document and fax it back to the other side. Unless someone scans the signature pages and creates a pdf, there is no electronic signed copy.

Efax helps somewhat and I often ask people to send docs to my efax number so that I have an electronic copy. But Echosign, besides being free, goes further. Once a document is finalized, you simply upload it to the site and use their interface to email it out to everyone. The emailed document includes a fax cover sheet with the fax number pre-filled. The other side simply prints it, signs it, and sends it to the fax number on the pre-printed form. The original party then receives a pdf version of the signed document for filing, printing and/or forwarding."

Office 2.0 - What is it?

This isn’t your “Office Space” office anymore. Instead of working on TPS reports alone, a new generation of knowledge workers has Office 2.0, a virtual office that includes collaboration tools, wikis, blogs, chats, mashups, widgets and social networks. The need for client applications to be productive is diminishing now that you can read/write/edit/share on the web, and in most cases, for free.

Plus, Office 2.0 is not just for “office” workers, other groups who can benefit as well include teachers and students for projects and assignments, non-profits who can’t afford the price of client applications, or neighborhood communities who want to collaborate on a cause or action. Office 2.0 is not only changing the way we work, it is changing the way we work “together”.

In this evening Under the Radar event, we'll showcase four companies playing in and enhancing this emergingmarket. They'll demo their product to a panel of industry experts who are active in this space, along with an audience of early adopter technology insiders. Both audience and experts will get a chance to beta test and offer feedback based on favorite features, areas for improvement, the ideal industry "partner" match-ups, and how best to reach out and build up their audience.

Wetpaint is a company offering free hosted wiki websites to anyone who wants to create one. The company's products offer easy click and type WYSIWYG editing. Sites utilizing Wetpaint technology include HTCwiki, Brickiwiki, wikiFido, Kerrydale Street, and thousands more.

Wetpaint is located in Seattle, Washington and received its initial venture capital funding from Trinity Ventures and Frazier Technology Ventures. Gus Tai from Trinity and Len Jordan from Frazier are on the Wetpaint board.

Presenting at Under the Radar on behalf of Wetpaint is Ben Elowitz, CEO of Wetpaint. Ben is best know for co-founding Blue Nile. He was also an early employee at Fatbrain.com (now Barnes & Noble). He's also worked as a consultant to eHarmony and Flutter (now Betfair). He began his career at Bain & Company after graduating from UC Berkeley with a BS in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science and a BA in Applied Mathmatics.
